Just as bad weather hit the north-west the night before, Manchester City overwhelmed United aside at the their home ground. It was a emphatic 3-0 victory for the City coach's side thanks to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that clearly signaled their championship potential as they strengthened their position at the top of the table.

Consecutive Setbacks for Manchester United

This outcome signalled successive Women's Super League setbacks for Skinner's side for the first time since May 2024, leaving them a sizable gap off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions severely dented.
